AI Cyberbullying Defense System ShieldNet Launches: Real-Time Identification and Interception of Cyberbullying Content

Meta and the Anti-Cyberbullying Coalition jointly release AI cyberbullying defense system ShieldNet, capable of identifying cyberbullying in text, images and video before content publication, covering 42 languages.

Meta and the International Anti-Cyberbullying Coalition jointly released AI cyberbullying defense system ShieldNet on December 24. The system can analyze text, image and video content users are about to publish in real-time, identifying cyberbullying behavior and intercepting or warning before publication.

ShieldNet covers five categories of bullying behavior: verbal attacks, social exclusion, physical threats, privacy violations and deepfakes, supporting 42 languages. In Meta's pilot, ShieldNet reduced cyberbullying content publication by 63% and decreased negative experience reports from teen users by 45%.
