Apple Watch ECG function officially receives NMPA Class II medical device registration. Can be used as medical-grade device in China. Domestic competitors face pressure.

Apple today announced that Apple Watch Series 10's ECG function officially receives National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) Class II medical device registration.

This means Apple Watch can be used as medical-grade ECG monitoring device in China. Its arrhythmia and atrial fibrillation detection functions have clinical reference value.

Previously, Huawei Watch D received similar registration. This Apple approval will intensify competition in the medical wearable device market.
