AI Predictive ECG Patch CardioPredict Receives FDA Approval: Atrial Fibrillation Warning Up to 48 Hours in Advance

AliveCor's AI predictive ECG patch CardioPredict receives FDA Class II approval, monitoring subtle cardiac electrical signal changes to warn of atrial fibrillation episodes up to 48 hours before onset.

US digital ECG company AliveCor announced on December 24 that its AI predictive ECG patch CardioPredict has received FDA Class II medical device approval. Unlike traditional ECG devices that detect arrhythmias only after they occur, CardioPredict analyzes subclinical micro-changes in cardiac electrical signals to warn of atrial fibrillation 12 to 48 hours before onset.

CardioPredict's core is a deep learning model trained on 8 million ECG records. The model identifies subtle atrial electrical activity abnormalities invisible to the human eye, including gradual P-wave morphology changes, subclinical heart rate variability fluctuations, and atrial refractory period prolongation trends.

In a 12,000-patient AFib trial, CardioPredict achieved 78.3% early warning rate with average 31-hour advance warning. Patients who adjusted anti-arrhythmic drug doses upon receiving warnings saw a 56% reduction in actual AFib episodes. CardioPredict uses a disposable design wearable for 14 days, priced at $149 per patch.
