AI Predictive Grid Dispatch System GridPredict Deployed in India: 15% Waste Reduction Through Weather-Demand Optimization

Indias national grid operator POSOCO and Google DeepMinds AI predictive grid dispatch system GridPredict completes nationwide deployment, optimizing power distribution 72 hours ahead by combining weather, demand, and renewable output predictions.

Indias national grid operator POSOCO and Google DeepMind jointly announced that the AI predictive grid dispatch system GridPredict has completed nationwide deployment across India. GridPredict optimizes inter-regional power distribution 72 hours in advance by analyzing weather data, historical consumption patterns, major event calendars, and renewable energy output predictions.

During 12 months of trial operation, GridPredict reduced Indias grid power waste rate from 22% to 7%. This improvement came from three areas: more accurate wind and solar generation forecasting (23% accuracy improvement), more refined load forecasting (18% accuracy improvement), and optimized cross-regional dispatch schemes.

Indias Power Minister stated in a declaration that GridPredict saves annually the equivalent of approximately 40 million households monthly electricity consumption. The system deployment cost approximately $120 million but is estimated to save over $1.5 billion annually in electricity value. POSOCO plans to promote GridPredicts technical approach to grid operators in other developing nations.
