Haptic Feedback Gloves TouchReal Launch: Feel Temperature, Texture, and Weight in Virtual Reality

Japanese haptics company HaptX launches consumer haptic feedback gloves TouchReal, integrating 132 micro-actuators and thermal modules to simulate temperature, texture, and weight sensations in VR environments.

Japanese haptics company HaptX launched the consumer-grade haptic feedback gloves TouchReal on June 1, 2029. Priced at $899, each glove integrates 132 micro-actuators and 4 thermal modules across all fingers, capable of simulating temperature, roughness, softness, and weight sensations in VR environments.

TouchReal's key innovation is its "force feedback" system. Micro linear motors inside the glove apply reverse resistance as fingers bend, simulating the tactile sensation of grasping real objects. For example, when picking up a virtual apple in VR, users can feel the apple's smooth surface and weight.

HaptX reports that during a three-month pre-launch trial at 10 Japanese VR experience centers, users wearing TouchReal rated their immersion 73% higher than those using traditional controllers. Meta has announced support for TouchReal's API in its Quest 5 headset developer kit.
