Report: Elderly Over 60 Spend Average 3+ Hours Daily on Smartphones for First Time

China Aging Science Research Center report shows elderly aged 60+ spend 3.2 hours daily on smartphones on average, a 150% increase from three years ago, but digital divide remains severe.

The China Aging Science Research Center released the "2027 Elderly Digital Life Report" today.

Key findings:

  • Elderly aged 60+ spend 3.2 hours daily on smartphones
  • 68% of elderly can use QR code payment
  • 42% still feel "digital services are difficult to use"
  • WeChat is the most frequently used app among elderly

The report recommends internet companies provide "age-appropriate digital services" to prevent the elderly from being marginalized in the digital society.
