ParkBot Parking Robot Swarm Deployed in Seoul: Boosts Garage Capacity by 40%

SmartPark deployed its ParkBot parking robot swarm in Seoul, where automated guided vehicles lift and shuttle cars into tightly packed spaces without needing door-opening clearance, increasing parking capacity by 40%.

SmartPark announced on April 30 that it has deployed its ParkBot robotic parking system at three garages in Seoul's Gangnam district.

The process is elegantly simple: a driver pulls onto a designated platform at the garage entrance and walks away. An automated guided vehicle (AGV) slides beneath the car, lifts it, and slots it into a tightly arranged parking space. Because there's no need for door-opening clearance between vehicles, spacing shrinks from the traditional 50 centimeters to just 10 centimeters — a 40% boost in capacity.

When it's time to leave, the driver calls for their car via a smartphone app, and ParkBot delivers it to the exit in an average of two minutes.

The three garages have expanded from 1,200 to 1,680 total spaces. SmartPark's CEO noted: "In premium urban real estate, a 40% capacity increase translates into enormous economic value."
