AI Vertical Farm Full-Process Management Robot FarmTower Deployed in Netherlands: 3x Yield Per Square Meter

Dutch agri-tech company PlantLabs vertical farm management robot FarmTower deploys in Rotterdam, automating the complete process from seeding to harvesting with 3x per-square-meter yield versus traditional greenhouses.

Dutch agricultural technology company PlantLab today announced that its vertical farm full-process management robot FarmTower has been deployed in a 2,000-square-meter vertical farm in Rotterdam. FarmTower is an integrated robot cluster within vertical farm shelving systems, including seeding robots, transplanting robots, inspection drones, and harvesting robotic arms covering every step from sowing to harvest.

FarmTowers core is PlantLabs proprietary crop digital twin system. Each plant has a digital model recording growth state, nutritional needs, and expected yield. Robots provide precise individualized management based on digital twin instructions, down to each plants daily water, light duration, and nutrient solution formula.

In Rotterdam trial operations, FarmTower-managed lettuce achieved 180kg per square meter annually, triple that of traditional greenhouses, while reducing water use by 95% with zero pesticides. PlantLab plans to deploy 10 FarmTower-equipped vertical farms across Europe by 2031.
