Smart Cleaning Robot DustEye: Vision-Based Autonomous Navigation With No Map Needed

Eufy, a brand under Japan's Anker, has released the DustEye smart cleaning robot. The robot uses a computer-vision-based zero-map navigation approach and needs no pre-built map, identifying household objects in real time to dynamically plan its path.

Conventional robot vacuums need to map a home the first time they are used, a process that requires the owner's cooperation and adapts poorly to environmental changes. DustEye uses an onboard wide-angle camera and a deep learning model to recognize floors, furniture, pets, and scattered items on the fly, without any prior map.

In tests at Stanford University's Robotics Lab, DustEye reached 96 percent cleaning coverage in homes with complex furniture layouts, well above the 82 percent posted by the previous map-based generation. Cleaning time also dropped by roughly 15 percent, because the zero-map approach avoids repeated backtracking over already cleaned areas.

Eufy's brand lead said DustEye is priced at 399 dollars and will launch simultaneously in markets worldwide in April 2026.
