AI Content Authenticity Watermark SynthID Deployed on Weibo: 320 Million AI Items Tagged Each Month
Weibo and Google have jointly deployed the SynthID watermark system, now covering all AI-generated images and videos on the Weibo platform. The system tags more than 320 million AI-generated items each month with verifiable watermarks.
Weibo and Google have jointly deployed the SynthID content authenticity watermark system across all AI-generated images and videos on the Weibo platform. SynthID embeds an invisible watermark into the pixels of AI-generated content, allowing any third party to verify the AI origin of the material.
The system tags more than 320 million AI-generated items each month with verifiable watermarks, a scale that surpasses any previous content authenticity deployment.
SynthID's watermark is invisible to viewers and does not affect the viewing experience. With a dedicated detection tool, however, anyone can check whether a piece of content was AI-generated. Weibo has added an "AI-generated" label to content detail pages, where users can click through to see full watermark verification information.
Wang Xiang, head of platform governance at Weibo, said the rapid growth of AI-generated content poses new challenges for the content ecosystem. SynthID is an important step in industry self-discipline, and the company will work with more AI content producers to expand watermark coverage.
