AI Traffic Routing System SmartRoute Deployed on European Backbone: Network Congestion Reduced by 55%

SmartRoute system analyzes global internet traffic patterns in real time, dynamically adjusting packet routing paths, significantly reducing peak-hour congestion on European backbone networks.

European network infrastructure alliance NetInfra announced on February 27 that SmartRoute, an AI-driven traffic routing system, has been deployed across backbone networks in 12 European countries. The system analyzes over 5 billion packets per second for flow direction and latency characteristics, computing optimal routing paths in real time.

In the first month after deployment, European backbone network peak-hour congestion dropped from 12.3% to 5.5%, and transatlantic data transmission latency decreased by an average of 18 milliseconds. SmartRoute's core algorithm is based on reinforcement learning and can automatically reroute traffic when cyberattacks or natural disasters cause node failures.
