Quantum Key Distribution Cloud Security Platform QuantumVault Goes Live: Enterprise Data Storage Enters Quantum-Safe Era

UK quantum security firm QinetiQ Cloud has launched QuantumVault, using quantum key distribution to protect cloud-stored data. Initial clients include HSBC and the UK National Health Service.

UK quantum security firm QinetiQ Cloud officially launched its Quantum Key Distribution cloud security platform QuantumVault in June 2028. The platform uses QKD technology to provide theoretically unbreakable encryption for cloud-stored data.

QuantumVault establishes quantum channels between data centers, transmitting encryption keys through photon quantum states. Any eavesdropping attempt alters the photons' quantum state, immediately alerting the system.

HSBC is among the first enterprise clients, using QuantumVault to protect cross-border transaction data. The UK NHS is using it for long-term secure patient record storage. QinetiQ Cloud CEO Robert Hannigan said: "The quantum computing threat is real, but QuantumVault proves that quantum security solutions are equally real."
