AI Mental Health Screening Bill MindScreen Passes in UK: Schools Regularly Use AI to Assess Student Mental Health

UK Parliament passes AI Mental Health Screening Bill MindScreen, requiring primary and secondary schools to use AI tools for student mental health screening each semester, detecting anxiety and depression tendencies early.

UK Parliament passed the AI Mental Health Screening Bill MindScreen on January 22. The bill requires all state primary and secondary schools to conduct mental health screening using Department for Education-certified AI tools each semester, detecting anxiety, depression, self-harm and bullying-related issues early.

The AI tools use questionnaire surveys, voice analysis and behavioral observation data for comprehensive assessment, classifying results as green (normal), yellow (monitor) and red (recommend professional intervention). UK's mental health minister said MindScreen aims to intervene early before problems become serious.
