AI Surgical Planning System SurgiPlan Gets EMA Approval: Surgical Precision Down to the Millimeter

German surgical AI company SurgiTech announced on April 11 that its AI surgical planning system SurgiPlan has received EMA approval. The system automatically generates personalized surgical plans from patients' CT, MRI, and other 3D imaging data, precisely marking incision locations, implant angles, and critical vessel avoidance paths.

SurgiPlan was retrospectively validated in over 12,000 surgeries, showing that procedures using SurgiPlan plans had 40% fewer complications and 22% shorter average surgical times compared to traditional approaches.

Currently focused on neurosurgery and orthopedic procedures, the company plans to expand into cardiovascular and laparoscopic surgery by 2030. The system is priced at 500 euros per surgical case.
