MicroStim Non-Invasive Neuromodulation System Approved: Targeted Electrical Pulses Treat Chronic Pain Without Drugs

Israel's NeuroTherapeutics' MicroStim non-invasive neuromodulation system receives FDA approval for chronic pain treatment, using focused ultrasound pulses to stimulate specific brain regions, with 72% of patients showing significant pain score reduction.

Israeli medical device company NeuroTherapeutics announced on July 2, 2028, that its MicroStim non-invasive neuromodulation system received FDA approval for chronic pain treatment. MicroStim uses focused ultrasound technology to penetrate the skull and precisely stimulate brain regions associated with pain perception (primarily the anterior cingulate cortex), modulating neural activity to reduce pain sensation. In Phase III clinical trials involving 680 chronic pain patients, 72% showed pain score reductions exceeding 50% within 4 weeks of treatment, with no significant side effects observed. Unlike opioids, MicroStim involves no chemical substances and carries no addiction risk. CEO Dr. Yael Cohen said: "MicroStim offers chronic pain patients a non-pharmaceutical, non-invasive treatment option."
