AI Language Evolution Tracker LinguaTrack Launches: Real-Time Monitoring of Global Language Changes and Emerging Vocabulary

University of Geneva linguistics department and UNESCO jointly release LinguaTrack, monitoring language usage patterns across global social media, news, and academic literature to track linguistic evolution in real time.

The University of Geneva linguistics department and UNESCO today jointly released LinguaTrack, an AI system capable of monitoring global language changes in real time. LinguaTrack continuously analyzes language usage patterns from social media, news reports, academic papers, and podcast content across 195 countries, tracking the birth of new vocabulary, semantic drift, and grammatical structural evolution.

The system currently supports real-time monitoring of 72 languages, processing approximately 5 billion text data points daily. LinguaTrack has already successfully predicted emerging vocabulary trends. For example, it detected in September 2029 that the English word synthwave was semantically shifting from a music genre toward AI-generated art, four months before mainstream dictionaries adopted the new meaning.

Project lead Professor Sofia Cavalho said LinguaTags long-term goal is establishing a global language health monitoring network, with particular focus on endangered languages. The system currently monitors 120 languages with fewer than 10,000 speakers, automatically alerting UNESCO when it detects abnormal declines in digital usage of these languages.
