AI Web Accessibility Engine AccessAI Launches: Automatically Optimizing Web Content for People With Disabilities

Microsoft launches AI web accessibility engine AccessAI, automatically optimizing web content for visually impaired, hearing impaired and cognitively disabled users, including image description generation, video sign language overlay and reading difficulty simplification.

Microsoft launched AI web accessibility engine AccessAI on January 23. This browser plugin automatically analyzes web content and optimizes it in real-time based on user accessibility needs. For visually impaired users, it generates text descriptions of images; for hearing impaired users, it adds sign language overlays and captions to videos; for cognitively disabled users, it simplifies complex text into plain language.

AccessAI improved visually impaired users' web browsing efficiency by 3x and hearing impaired users' video comprehension by 45% in tests with 10,000 users.
