Perovskite-Silicon Tandem Solar Cell Efficiency Breaks 35%

LONGi Green Energy announced a laboratory efficiency of 35.8% for perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells, setting a new world record with mass production targeted at 30% by 2028.

LONGi Green Energy announced at its Xi'an R&D center that its perovskite-silicon tandem solar cell has achieved a laboratory conversion efficiency of 35.8%, breaking the previous world record of 34.6% held by Saudi Arabia's KAUST. The cell uses a four-terminal architecture with a full-perovskite top cell and heterojunction bottom cell, demonstrating excellent spectral response under standard test conditions. LONGi is working to resolve the long-term stability of the perovskite layer, targeting mass production of modules with over 30% efficiency by 2028, which would reduce solar LCOE by another 20%.
