Miniature Nuclear Batteries Go Mass Production: 30 Years of Phone Power, Double EV Range

In October 2027, Chinese energy firm Carbon Neutral Tech began mass-producing the Amber-241 miniature nuclear battery. First applications target IoT sensors and medical devices. What Is a Miniature Nuclear Battery?

Carbon Neutral Tech CTO Li Tao explained: "Amber-241's radiation levels are extremely low. The casing uses 10-layer composite materials designed to withstand bullet impacts without leaking." The company has obtained national nuclear safety certification, but public skepticism about living with radioactive devices hasn't fully dissipated.

Cost and Outlook

First-run pricing sits at ¥2,800 ($380) per unit, primarily targeting enterprise buyers. As production scales, costs could fall to ¥800 ($110) by 2029 — entering genuine consumer territory.
